Deacon Ministry 

This group gives diligence to assisting the Pastor with advisement, worship affairs, visitation, benevolent affairs, modeling Christian character and other related activities.

Greeters Ministry Sis. Dorothy Browder, Leader

This group gives diligence to welcoming out guest and members upon arriving on the premises. Their mission is to offer a warm welcome, providing knowledgeable information and supplying practical assistance to every guest, ensuring their first impression at Lyons Unity is a lasting one. Our purpose is to assist our Pastor in fulfilling the vision God has given him by creating an ambiance of love, a feeling of hope and a level of comfort to everyone who enters the doors.

Usher/Nurses Ministry Sis. Lovely Charles, Leader

The Usher and Nurses are committed to being helpful, friendly, dutiful doorkeepers to all individuals entering the house of God and providing a safe environment conductive for worship service. This ministry gives diligence to congregational orderliness. Young people are invited to join in with the adults. This group covers all worship services. Psalms 84:10 “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a Doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of the wickedness.”

Pastor’s Aid Ministry  Sis. Adanna McElroy, Chairperson

The purpose of this ministry is to assist our Pastor; through prayers, encouraging words and actions. This group gives diligence to managing kind acts towards the Pastor, such as the Pastor’s anniversary services, birthday gifts, and Christmas gifts.  They also manage pulpit affairs.

TEAM 316 Youth Ministry Sis. Trenette McShan, Director

This ministry gives diligence to the discipleship of our children, youth and young adults. Our mission is to offer a teaching and fellowship ministry that connects students to God through his work, to each other through fellowship and service opportunities. Our prayer is that our youth will be introduced to a personal, intimate and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old, he will not depart from it”

Sunday school Patricia Combs, Superintendent

To aid the pastor in the edification of the church by studying the word of God. It is the primary teaching ministry of the church; to teach obedience to the word, for life changing results and to strengthen the church.  II Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

Christian Education Patricia Combs, Director

Christian Education Ministry seeks to fulfill the Great Commission and follow Pastoral Vision (Exalt, Equip, Edify and Evangelize) by serving as a support ministry to all of the discipleship of LUMBC. Our mission is to offer biblically and doctrinally sound resources for study, teaching and training. This group gives diligence to training members to be effective church workers, especially teachers and ministry leaders. Our prayer is that all disciples will grow in their relationship with Christ and be equipped to serve.

Music Ministry Bro. Donald Hill, Minister of Music

Is to be prayerful in our selection of suitable Music for the Church, (Anthems, Spirituals, Contemporary and Gospel) for the enablement of the Holy Spirit to usher itself in. Our goal is to sing with the anointing in order to: heal, set captives free and bring sinners to repentance.  These groups give diligence to providing godly song service.  The Mass Choir is our premier choir, which sings a variety of styles almost every Sunday and when we have fellowship services.  We also have our Male Chorus, Youth & Young Adult Choir, Praise Team and WAJ Chorale.  Psalms 33:1 “Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;
it is fitting for the upright to praise him
”.

TEAM 316 Dance Ministry 

Dance and Mime ministry are established to give God praise through the art of movement. Dance including traditional, hip-hop, and liturgical interpretations to all genres of music. Mime presents a more theatrical, dramatic, and emotional interpretations to all genres of music in full white face. Through very interpretations, all are done to the glory of God.

Rehearsal Times: 1st and 3rd Saturday’s @ 12:30 P.M.

Women of Purpose Women’s Ministry (2 Timothy 1:9)

This ministry gives diligence to the discipleship of all the women by way of Christian teachings, mentoring girls, outreach projects, fellowships and other related activities.

Meetings on 3rd Saturday of each month @ 10 AM

Barnabas Men’s Ministry

This group gives diligence to the discipleship of men, by way of Christian teachings, mentoring boys, outreach projects, fellowships and other related activities.

Meetings on 2nd Saturday @ 8AM

Media Ministry Roman Tauriac, Sound Technicians

This ministry provides help and support in audio, video and duplication for all media, at both onsite and offsite events.

Unity Senior’s Sis. Anna Hill, Coordinator

To provide opportunities for the senior citizens of this church and other area senior’s with a monthly fellowship in a safe environment. We minister to Senior Citizens everywhere; by letting they know that God loves them. Psalms 37:25a “I have been young and now am old; yet I have not seen the Righteous forsaken”.

Care & Out Reach Ministry  Rev. Donald Bradley, Director

To focuses on visiting, encouraging, comforting and praying for the sick. This group gives diligence to expressing love to our members, in their times of distress.  Hospital & Nursing Home visits and bereavement encouragement are some of their focuses.  James 5: 14-15 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven”.
